The Dansemblage Project transforms reclaimed materials into a multi-functional, sculptural furniture piece. Built using the assemblage technique, the design takes the form of a compact, stair-like structure—each tier thoughtfully crafted to serve as a chair, table, or shelf, adapting seamlessly to different living needs.
The name Dansemblage merges the Korean word dan (meaning "step") with assemblage, capturing both its tiered form and its collage-inspired aesthetic. Drawing inspiration from London’s bustling flea markets and the intricate tradition of patchwork, the project responds to the growing issue of fast furniture by reimagining the resourcefulness and sustainability of textile patchwork in a modern, material-based context.
Handmade by the designer, each piece is constructed entirely from reclaimed solid wood using traditional joinery techniques. Bridging the line between functional design and sculptural art, Dansemblage invites reflection on sustainable living and the beauty of reconfigured materials.
