Slancha, in collaboration with Formd, presents The Car Boot Sale, a group exhibition reimagining the classic car boot sale through the lens of contemporary design. Opening on 16 September 2025 at 228 Brick Lane, London, the exhibition showcases one-of-a-kind works by sixteen emerging designers from across the UK, each offering their own interpretation of what a car boot sale can be today.

Car boot sales are spaces of chance, community, and quiet chaos, where the past lives of objects are on display and value is found in the overlooked. The Car Boot Sale captures this spirit and reinterprets it as something poetic and complex.
Designers were invited to explore the concept freely, encouraged to use repurposed and reused materials while considering the layered histories, hidden value, and personal narratives that car boot sales evoke. The result is a diverse collection of works that are sculptural, functional, reflective, and often playful, each revealing a distinct response to the theme.
Together, the pieces consider memory, material afterlives, and the choices we make about what to discard, preserve, or transform.
